Are carbs "bad"?
Carbohydrates are the preferred energy source of the human body and therefore serve a key function by giving us energy. The main reason it is believed carbs should be avoided when aiming for fat loss is its relationship with Insulin.
Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas that tells the cells in your body to either conserve or expend energy stores (in the form of glucose, glycogen, fat and protein).
Carbohydrates stimulate insulin release into the blood stream, and the action of this increased insulin level moves the body into a conservative/growth mode. In this mode, the body decreases its usage of fat stores and increases its production of fatty acids, glycogen storage and protein synthesis.
Many diets aim to keep insulin levels low by controlling carbohydrate intake. This in turn maintains the body in a mode of expenditure/breakdown. As a result fat stores are used more often and result in weight/fat loss.
Is it gluten free?
Our Proteinza base is not made with any ingredients that contain gluten. However we cannot guarantee that the pizza sauce or the chosen toppings are gluten free. Although Proteinza's are made and cooked using dedicated kitchen utensils and trays, they are prepared in the same facility and ovens as our regular, flour-crust pizzas. We cannot guarantee that our Proteinza's are 100% free of gluten as there is always a possibility of trace amounts crossing over from other kitchen areas. Please consider this when ordering from our menu.
